Motorola launches QIP series HD set-top boxes

We heard Moto was working on a set-top box launch (we'd even seen it shown around on the sly at a couple of Motorola events), and even if we didn't,
this wouldn't come as much of a surprise — it's really no secret that the livingroom is the place to be these days
(why else would Cisco buy Scientific Atlanta?). Moto's new DVR lineup consists of three devices: the dual-tuner hi def QIP6416, the single tuner hi def QIP6200, and the single tuner standard def QIP2500. Though you probably won't ever be able to just pick one up at the store, these boxes support MoCA
(Multimedia over Coax)
, QAM, and are already slated to be rolled out in select areas of Texas, Virginia, and Florida coupled with Verizon's FIOS fiber-to-the-home service.
