DS sells out in Japan, Nintendo issues apology

Nintendo's dual-screen portable is still potent for potential purchasers. The DS did so well this holiday season that the console actually sold out in Japan,
forcing Nintendo to issue an official apology via its website. Nintendo of Japan have promised more shipments as soon as possible, but they may not come until late January.

According to the latest
sales figures, Nintendo has sold around 13 million DS consoles worldwide, far exceeding Kaupthing Bank estimates from early October. Nice way to bring in the new year, eh Nintendo?
