Sony's Blu-Ray launch titles.
Got to have something to play on those new Blu-Ray players, right? Paramount
announced their launch titles earlier today and now Sony adds to the bunch. These titles come from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and MGM Home Entertainment. They include: The Fifth Element, in multichannel uncompressed audio Bram Stoker's Dracula, Desperado, For a Few Dollars More, The Guns of Navarone, Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, A
Knight's Tale, Kung Fu Hustle, The Last Waltz, Legends of the Fall, Resident Evil Apocalypse, Robocop, Sense and Sensibility, Stealth, Species, SWAT and XXX. Black Hawk Down and The Bridge on the River Kwai will also be available on 50 GB, dual-layer Blu-ray Discs Summer 2006. There is some good movies here. Not great but decent. Stargate Atlantis is also being released on Blu-Ray and will have the title of "first TV show on Blu-Ray."
They plan on starting to release these titles starting this summer with four per month accelerating to 10 per month by the last part of the year. They ultimate plan is to be able to release titles at the same time as normal DVDs.
The only question I still have is how much are they going to cost?
