Epson PowerLite Cinema 500 tops Consumer Reports ratings

We haven't copped a peek at this projector, but the Epson PowerLite Cinema 500 grabbed the top spot over at Consumer Reports. The 3LCD unit lists for $3,999, but retails for about $3,330 these days. Sounds like a whole bunch o' money to us for a 720p projector since we scanned the specs and don't see much to justify the cost. The 1,200:1 contrast is nice as is the 1,000 lumens lamp and HDMI input,
but ouch, that hurts the wallet. The obvious advantage, and the main focus of the CR article, is the bigger-than-big-screen picture that a projector provides.
