Sharp had a record quarter thanks to LCDs
Christmas did Sharp good. Their third quarter profit rose a whopping 26 percent thanks to increased sales of those larger LCDs that we have been drooling over. These numbers were right in line with the analyst estimates. This comes after their sales rose 12 percent from a year earlier. Sharp plans on continuing this trend; the Olympics and World Cup are around the corner and they Sharp plans to capitalize on both.
Part of Sharp's success must come from 40 percent of their TV revenue earned from TVs measuring 30-inches and larger. Their marketing team seems to be placing the AQUOS brand everywhere. The LCDs were in Nip/Tuck. Their commercials seem to be on every other show. Hey, there's nothing wrong with that beause they simply are good TVs.
