Mac Quake 4 system req's lower than PC's

Asypr have announced the Macintosh system requirements for their upcoming port of id Software's Quake 4. The system requirements are surprisingly modest for such a demanding game.

  • Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later
  • PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel-based chipset
  • 1.67GHz or faster CPU
  • 512MB or higher of memory
  • 64MB or more of video memory (VRAM)

In comparison, the PC version of the game requires a 2GHz processor. Apparently, the Mac version will require 330MHz less CPU horsepower to run the game at an acceptable level. Misleading marketing or reality? We'll have to wait and see.
