NEC to enter MP3 market

Along with announcing a whole slew of new phones, NEC now says the company plans to make MP3 players. According to the company, its first model will be out later this month, and will be able to play and record videos. The company also plans to closely link the players to its computers. Given that other computer
companies are bailing from the market for digital audio players, we're not quite sure what they're thinking at NEC, but we suspect they'll never ship any of these outside of Japan, given the company's relatively low share of the PC market outside of its home turf.
Well, c'es la vie, NEC.
