TC:NYC guns down 50 Cent's Bulletproof in sales shootout
Here are some more interesting tidbits from the January NPD Data we discussed earlier.
According to the report, filed by SIG Financial Group, Activision's True Crime: New York City outsold VU
Games' 50 Cent: Bulletproof this month–the first time since the games were released in November of 2005. The report noted New York City was one of Activision's top selling titles of the month, although it did not make it into the top 5 (surpassed by GUN, Tony Hawk, and 3 versions of Call of Duty).
Both games have a lot of controversy as action titles with a major focus on urban violence. While Bulletproof
did enjoy the endorsement of platinum-selling rap artist 50 Cent, True Crime benefits from a lower price point and not-as-crappy reviews.
