Expect the PlayStation 3 in 2006
So it turns out Taipei didn't get any special treatment at the TGS this year, as a working PS3 to play is still MIA. About the only thing we know that came out of the show is that we can rest assured of 2006 release date for the console (at least for Japanese). Without being specific in any way, shape or form (that isn't their style) Sony exec Tetsuhiko Yasuda pledges to have it ready before 2007.
One of the most informative declarations coming from him was that they fully expect the PS3 to out-sell the PlayStation 2 at about 100 million units globally. This will be very interesting to see pan out as the PS2 has just shipped a little over 96 million at the end of September '05.
