"Holy smokes," Gears of War demo is close

There's probably not an Xbox 360 owner that isn't waiting on pins and needles for some tangible Gears of War material. CliffyB and the rest of the Epic team have been working on this title for a while now, and judging from the screens, we have a lot to look forward to.

And speaking about looking forward, we just might luck up and see a demo before too long. According to OXM, a playable form of the game was presented at a recent Microsoft get-together which inspired PR pundit John Porcaro to write "The demos included gameplay from Gears of War (holy smokes, I can't wait for that game!) ..."

He's not the only one. There isn't an army of eager gamers that wouldn't give their left thumb to see it themselves. Hopefully once E3 rolls around we'll see a playable demo of it, maybe even on Xbox Live. Or is that just wishful thinking?
