Hands-on with the i-mate Smartflip

The i-mate Smartflip (a.k.a. the HTC Star Trek) has been generating a lot of interest at 3GSM, and with good reason: this Windows Mobile 5.0-powered smartphone sports a 2-megapixel cam
(albeit with a terrible 176 x 144 video resolution), 2.2-inch QVGA LCD, 1.2-inch external TFT LCD, music playback from microSD or the 128MB flash ROM, and high-speed EDGE data support. But the nicest feature of this model, its ultra-thin 16-millimeter profile, can only be truly appreciated in person, or barring that, via NewMobile's video hands-on. Almost RAZR-like in its waif-like appearance, the Star Trek would totally make our short list were we not such QWERTY snobs,
with the relatively small screen making the QVGA resolution look even better than it does on some of our WM5 devices.
The Smartflip/Star Trek will also be available in Europe from Qtek, sold as the 8500.
