The Darkness scheduled for 360

Prepare to get your Rock on, because The Darkness is heading to the Xbox 360! Wait, false alarm... wrong Darkness. Slated for late 2006 by 2K Games, this particular shade of black is billed as "a dynamic first-person shooter that will allow players to call upon the forces of the evil underworld as they fight in gritty, urban environments." It isn't the first time we've heard about The Darkness. This time last year we heard it would be making an appearance on a next-gen system, but no further details were provided. So here we are a year later with the 360 on the scene and Starbreeze Studios has decided to join the party. They're the same guys that did The Chronicles of Riddick, so we know the kind of caliber they're capable of.

You play as Jackie Estacado, a not-so-stereotypical hitman for a mafia who ends up fighting in the name of the Francetti family, (stay with us here) but ends up getting possessed by The Darkness. This is where the supernatural powers come in. The game is based on the comic that first appeared in 1996 and managed to sell one million copies worldwide. There's also a movie in the works, so this franchise is definitely getting around.
