Hunters & Mounts

I was skimming the official boards today, and came across this thread that asks a very good question that has crossed my mind on more than one occasion, especially since 2 of my main characters are Hunters. The question is: why do Hunters, the only class able to tame animals, have to pay for their mounts at L40, when Warlocks & Paladins get theirs, basically, for free?

Now, don't get me wrong;
I'm not whining about the fact that both those classes get free mounts (although plenty of people on the aforementioned thread are), but just from a purely logistical standpoint, Hunters would seem like the first class to receive a mount via a quest; it just makes sense due to their nature. Their entire existence is based around animals; tracking them,
taming them, fearing them...but they have to pay to have someone else teach them how to ride one? I dunno, maybe I'm nitpicking...or maybe I just want another mount without having to pony up the gold. What do you think?
