Gateway M255-E, NX260X budget notebooks for home and office

While Gateway tried to wow us earlier today with the lightweight E-100M and NX100
subnotebooks, with today's other offerings, the company is back on familiar ground, providing solid, affordable notebooks that you probably won't be lusting after, but that won't make Fred in accounting (or your mom) want to cut off your expense account (or allowance). As with Gateway's other models, the company has chosen an intuitive and simple naming system, putting out the same machine with two different model numbers: the M255-E for business customers and the NX260X for home users (the letter "X" being, of course, the new "i" when it comes to branding consumer goods). Both models offer a range of Core Duo processors, optical drives that include dual-layer burners,
smart card readers and a 14.1-inch widescreen display. The NX260X starts at $999, while the M255-E goes for a minimum of $1,399, because, you know, business customers can afford a little more vig.
