Keepsake's unforgettable adventure

Keepsake game

The Adventure Company's Keepsake shipped a few weeks ago, but has remained in the long shadow cast by recent genre darling, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. As of this writing, the major trade press hasn't even bothered to review Keepsake. The sign of a bad game? Not in this case. It's more a symptom of the industry's tendency to focus on the myriad shooters, RPGs, and strategy titles that dominate PC gaming.

Developed by Wicked Studios, Keepsake has been described as a cross between the Myst series and Benoit Sokal's excellent Syberia games. As an aspiring student of the mystic arts, you're charged with finding out what happened at the deserted Dragonvale Academy, and you have only a talking wolf and a series of magical clues to assist you. The game's visuals are astounding, and the publisher even hired new voice talent to replace the original actors, following beta feedback.
