Skype 1.4.0.39 non-functional

Remember the other day when I excitedly proclaimed that there was a new version of Skype? Yeah, that was fun. Well, it was fun until people started commenting to say that this version just plain didn't work. What up with that?

The Skype blog lets us know that 'Skype for Mac 1.4.0.39 was released yesterday, but was pulled off skype.com a few hours later. We made a mistake during the publishing processes which resulted in a non-working version being released. We're sorry if this caused trouble for anyone -
it won't happen again.'

So that explains that. They're working on getting a version out that will actually launch (though don't expect it to have video conferencing just yet).
