Blizzard and Xfire join forces for "Summer Movie Contest"
If you think you got what it takes to be the next Steven Spielberg of World of Warcraft machinima, then this contest may be for you. Blizzard and Xfire have announced that they are teaming up to give wannabe movie directors a chance to win some dough for their in-game work. Here's what they're looking for and looking to do:
- To take part in the contest you will need to make a movie using Blizzard's World of Warcraft and submit it to one of four categories: Short Film, Comedy, Drama/Action, or Dance/Music Video by Friday, September 15th, 2006. Once we have all the submissions, winners will be decided by Blizzard, Xfire, and a community vote! Each category will have prizes awarded for first through fifth place. Honorable mention prizes will also be given to 10 quality submissions that do not make it into the final round. For more information on the $23,000 of prizes, go to the prizes page.
We're definitely a fan of some good knee-slapping machinima films, but there are so many bad ones out there that it's hard to find one that can be a classic. Here's hoping that this contest pushes some creative folks to keep us entertained.
