Activision game prices have been announced

Robert Kotick, Activision CEO, recently announced the pricing for initial releases for the PS3. His company's PS3 games will start at the price of $60. As a bit of reasoning, Kotick offered: "We have not seen a lot of consumer resistance at the higher price points and we expect that all of our next-generation products will be launched at $60 price points." This pricing point doesn't actually apply to the Wii, interestingly enough. In related, but not confirmed news, Spiderman 3 has cost Activision about $35 million to create and rumors are starting that the pricing of that game will reflect that.

With this announcement, does this imply most PS3 games (at least at launch — or at the very least, games less-than-incredibly-anticipated) will price at or around $60? If so, that's not too bad. Much better than the ridiculous rumors of the $100 price tag. Also, the Wii titles can be assumed to be cheaper, implied through the interview. But how much? According to Joystiq, $49.99. The downloadable Nintendo library has been approximated at $5 NES, $8 SNES, and $10 N64. Any sort of downloadable Sony library and prices should be unveiled at TGS. Even so, getting these game prices is sweet. Does $60 still seem too much for anyone?
