Bold PS3 best-seller predictions

The fine folks over at Next Generation have made a valiant effort to turn the clock forward and predict the best-selling "launch window" games for the PS3. In this particular case, NG defines "launch window" as the first 6 months of the PS3's life cycle. What's the verdict? Here's the Top 10 best-selling PS3 games as predicted by Next Generation:

  • Resistance: Fall of Man – 800,000 copies sold
  • Call of Duty 3 – 650,000 copies sold
  • Assassin's Creed – 600,000 copies sold
  • Need for Speed Carbon – 500,000 copies sold
  • Warhawk – 500,000 copies sold
  • Madden NFL 2K7 – 450,000 copies sold
  • John Woo Presents Stranglehold – 450,000 copies sold
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas – 400,000 copies sold
  • Unreal Tournament 2007 – 400,000 copies sold
  • Medal of Honor: Airborne – 400,000 copies sold

I think NG may have nailed the order of best-sellers, but their numbers may be just a bit off. Based on their math, you're looking at a tremendous attach rate (the number of games sold with each console) and you're putting a lot of faith in Sony to get a couple of million units out the door in the first few months of availability. We'll make sure we revisit this list next year and see how things panned out.
