NVIDIA to Acquire PortalPlayer

PortalPlayer may not be a company that you have heard of, but I am willing to bet that you use one of their products on a daily basis. This small company makes the media chips that are in most iPods (though Samsung now makes the nano's chip). That is way it is important to note that NVIDIA, maker of graphics cards and the like, will acquire PortalPlayer for $357 million.

The details are a little scarce, but all will be made clear at NVIDIA's quarterly conference call on November 9th.
