San Fran's PS3 launch party

San Francisco, world-famous home to clam chowder and the Sony Playstation Store, is hosting a super-duper PS3 launch event on November 16. Streets will be blocked off, the press will be in attendance, rock-and-roll will be played, Sony execs will try to act cool and the first Playstation 3 will be sold in North America (just ignore the fact that New York will have started selling them 3 hours earlier).

"At this consumer event, which is open to anyone to line-up at, people will get the chance to party with the PlayStation digerati, and, most importantly, be among the first to purchase their own PLAYSTATION 3 system at the stroke of midnight! Throughout the day on Thursday, the action will center on the consumers in line, who will be treated to a mind-blowing PLAYSTATION 3 experience.

Here's the official play-by-play:

• 8:00 a.m.: Throngs of raging, hard-core gamers lining up outside and braving the elements to snag PLAYSTATION 3
  

• 8:00 p.m.: dramatic delivery of PLAYSTATION 3 shipment
  

• 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.: Live music performance on barricaded 4^th Street — near Mission (featuring Kenny and the Kutaragis!)
  

• Midnight: First sale of PLAYSTATION 3
