Amazon to randomly sell some PS3s!

After weeks of getting the cold shoulder from Sony, Amazon.com is finally getting ready to sell some of the uber-rare consoles... in both 20 and 60-gig configurations. And there's a catch. The PS3s will be sold to a random sub-set of people who register for the opportunity to buy one. Registration ends Sunday, December 17 at 11:59 PST. The lucky relatives of Amazon.com employees "winners" will find out if they're getting a PS3 for Xmas on Tuesday, December 19.

Here's the fine print:

  • Your Amazon.com account must have been created no later than 11:59 p.m. (Pacific time) on December 11, 2006.
  • You need an authorized credit card on your account.
  • The claim codes will be distributed only to randomly selected customers.
