Japan: iPhone just looks like another phone to us

$600 for a touchscreen phone (nothing new) without video calling or high-speed data, nothing special — that's how the Los Angeles times found that some Japanese are receiving news of the iPhone. Of course, this is coming from a country that's had broadband straight to their citizens' cellies longer than any other (not to mention FeliCa, FOMA, waterproof phones, and scary, glowing red eyes), so we can't necessarily blame them for not being absolutely blown away. While we're still sure Apple's going to have no problem pushing a mind-numbing quantity of iPhones across the globe, it might take the second-gen unit (read: 3G) for Japan to fully buy in.

[Thanks, Brian]
