European stores offline

Something is going on in Europe. Several stores have gone offline with the standard "We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly." This can be as innocent as updating the look and feel of the store and as wild as a Startling. New. Announcement™. Only time will tell. Update: Apple UK Store is back online. Nothing interesting to report. Perhaps just normal maintenance?
