Apple straining NAND suppliers
Electronista passes along a report saying that Apple's increased NAND chip demand is straining suppliers to the breaking point. Electronista says Apple is trying to acquire a supply large enough to cover the manufacturing of all iPods and iPhones for the second half of 2007, including about 15% more chips than Samsung had agreed to produce.
No matter how you look at it, a 400 – 500 million four gigabit (aka 512 MB) chip order is a whole lot. Not enough NANDs may mean longer waits for customers who want to pick up iPhones.
