iTunes: Free Tuesday

Welcome to iTunes: Free Tuesday. Each week TUAW brings you the latest collection of free tracks, videos, and other media from iTunes stores around the world. This week it looks like the iTunes hamsters slept in. Not much got updated and some of last week's freebies are still in effect.

US: Your Joy by Chrisette Michele (Frepeat)
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This track comes from Chrisette Michele, who's getting plenty of attention as a vocalist thanks to her appearances on recent records from Jay-Z and Nas. "Your Joy" is something a bit different. Here, Michele is backed mainly by an acoustic guitar. This is a moving, sweet tune that gathers momentum once the orchestration falls in toward the end. It's an unexpected folk-soul surprise.

US: Solta o Frango (Edit) by Bonde do Role
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana. Bondo do Rolé is probably the coolest thing happening in Brazil right now, and if you know anything about Brazil, that's a huge compliment. These two kids have integrated the party sounds of the Brazilian favela with elements of Miami booty bass and American electro-pop. The result is "Solta o Frango," a track that will blow up your speakers, get the party started right, and have everyone within earshot heading for the dance floor.

US: Back Door Friend by Magic Sam (Frepeat)
For this week's Discovery Download, we focus on the blues. To be more specific, the electric style perfected in the Chicago area. Magic Sam was an early key player in the scene that brought us Otis Rush and Buddy Guy. His cutting and precise style on the guitar led him to play sets with Willie Dixon, but he really blossomed as a songwriter. "Back Door Friend" gives you a glimpse of Magic Sam's heartfelt style – one that begs to be re-examined.

France: World of Flowers by Sayem (Encore)

Australia: Late Night Shopping Spree by The Electric Confectionaires
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. The Electric Confectionaires are a four piece from Auckland's North Shore whose blustery, groove-oriented take on rock 'n' roll reveals them to be students of the psychedelic-blues era of pop. The close harmony vocals on "Late Night Shopping Spree" suggest poppier sides to the group, but the main draw here is the rhythm: the mixture of funky, solid bass, powerful drums, organ swirls, and spiraling guitar. Think Wolfmother and Crosby, Stills, and Nash on holiday.

UK: More Rock 'n' Roll by Ruarri Joseph (Frepeat)
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Noted for playing his debut gig at the Glastonbury Festival a few years back, Ruarri Joseph has been gaining accolades for his swooning, old-style folk. "More Rock 'n' Roll" sounds like an early '70s pub sing-along for those with a craving for domesticity. In the tune, Joseph wishes he "was more rock 'n' roll", but eventually realises he'd "rather be home with the wife".
