iTunes: Free Wednesday
It looks like the iTunes hamsters finally woke up, got on their exercise wheels and have been working hard at updating the store. Here are a lot more free items to supplement those posted yesterday. Unfortunately, Canada still doesn't seem to have posted a Single of the Week–but Germany did. One of the first Kostenlos singles I've seen in months.

US: Home by Great Northern
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This week, we look to the southern end of California in order to find Great Northern. The group was formed by Solon Bixler and Rachel Solte as a way to funnel their wide-open, expansive musical daydreams into something concrete. The result: big waves of rumbling guitars over harmonies that would sparkle in the dusk were it possible. This dreamy indie rock, with its graceful arrangements and Solte's gossamer vocal leads, makes for a great Single of the Week.
US: Solta o Frango (Edit) by Bonde do Role
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana. Bondo do Rolé is probably the coolest thing happening in Brazil right now, and if you know anything about Brazil, that's a huge compliment. These two kids have integrated the party sounds of the Brazilian favela with elements of Miami booty bass and American electro-pop. The result is "Solta o Frango," a track that will blow up your speakers, get the party started right, and have everyone within earshot heading for the dance floor.
US: Lightning by Eric Church
This track from Eric Church begins with an atmospheric, electronic swirl before the acoustic guitar announces Church's telltale twang. It sets the mood for "Lightning," a plea for forgiveness from the "cold jailhouse floor" as Church takes on the role of a prisoner on death row. Intro aside, this is a hard-living traditional country tune on which Church delivers on all fronts. Get this track today – it's our free Discovery Download

France: I Love Death by Lodger
Chaque semaine, nous sélectionnons un morceau par un interprète ou un groupe sur le point d'exploser et nous vous l'offrons grauitement dans le cadre de notre Single de la semaine. Ces rockers de la scène indépendante finlandaise débarquent cette semaine avec une chanson pop sérieusement entraînante. Alors certes, elle est intitulée " I Love Death " (J'aime la mort), et les paroles détaillent l'ennui de la routine quotidienne, mais les rythmes incitent à pogoter et le refrain est difficile à résister. On ne va tout de même pas laisser une juxtaposition pleine d'ironie nous gâcher le plaisir d'une si bonne chanson.
