US Music

US: Jarhand by Immaculate Machine
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This week, we turn to Canada's Immaculate Machine. This group has been diligently performing at home since it formed about five years ago. Opening for bands such as the Arcade Fire and the Constantines gave Immaculate Machine more exposure, increasing their fan base and giving them the confidence that shows on "Jarhand." This is an effervescent track with a Motown rhythm that draws a little on the harmonies of roots-punk heroes X and fellow countrymen the New Pornographers (with whom they share a member). "Jarhand" also features some backing vocal assistance from Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and English trio the Cribs.

US: Running Back by Michoacan
Mistake Kindness for Weakness. Dance. No description.

US: Yo Momma, Season 3, College Park vs Union City
In this next run of Yo Momma, the trash-talking heads to the Dirty South for a no-holds barred comedy competition that pits the funniest amateur trash-talkers against one another, hosted by Wilmer Valderrama. In each episode of Yo Momma, Wilmer searches different neighborhoods in Atlanta to find the most original and skilled clowners. After streetcorner-style comedy rumbles in each 'hood, Wilmer takes the local champion to his rival opponent's crib to gather comedy ammunition for the final battle. Armed with personal information from the home invasion, the two finalists go head-to-head in the final trash- talking battle; each joking for respect, bragging rights, cash money, and an opportunity to move on in the tournament to represent the best trash talker of the week and eventually a chance to perhaps be crowned the "Best of Atlanta" in a special episode that features the only four remaining undefeated jokers in the city.

US: Star Wars: Legacy of the Force #5: Sacrifice – Free Excerpt (Abridged Fiction)
This is a free excerpt. Civil war rages as the Galactic Alliance, led by Cal Omas and the Jedi forces of Luke Skywalker, battles a confederation of breakaway planets that rally to the side of rebellious Corellia. Suspected of involvement in an assassination plot against Queen Mother Tenel Ka of the Hapes Consortium, Han and Leia Solo are on the run, hunted by none other than their own son, Jacen, whose increasingly authoritarian tactics as head of GA security have led Luke and Mara Skywalker to fear that their nephew may be treading perilously close to the dark side. But all Jacen wants is safety and stability for all – and he's prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. As the strands of destiny draw ever more tightly together in a galaxy-spanning web, the shocking conclusion will shatter two families and cast a grim shadow over the future.

International

Australia: Make Amends by PTY LTD
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. "Make Amends" is a track from PTY LTD's second album, Enticer Deluxe. Here's a tune that goes for the dance floor jugular. It's like the early sounds of Prince (think long hair, mustache, leather suits) and some relentless disco-funk with analog synthesizers unleashing the sonic equivalents of glitter and rainbows all over an ecstatic crowd.

Canada: What You Want (Final Mix) by Hayley Sales
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Hayley Sales is a songwriter from Vancouver whose song "Only What You Want" is the audio equivalent of strolling through the meadow and picking flowers. No angst. No quirks. Just a laidback, soulful melody from the breathy-voiced Sales against some sprightly, acoustic guitars. If Jack Johnson was a female teenager from British Columbia, he might sound a lot like this.

France: Gloom Uprising by Don Cavalli

UK: Mango Tree by Angus & Julia Stone
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Angus and Julia Stone are a brother-sister duo from Australia whose intertwining voices and sparse, acoustic backing helps to illuminate those quieter, darker moments. "Mango Tree" is one of the more driving numbers on their debut – the song moves forward like a steam train while Angus takes the gentle lead vocal.
