Leopard Watch: Unix
Leopard Unix is getting an upgrade. According to Apple, Leopard UNIX will be an Open Brand UNIX 03 Registered Product, conforming to SUSv3 and POSIX 1003.1 specifications. That means the next generation of OS X will be fully leaded UNIX without any odd dialectical quirkiness. Sure, you'll still have access to some great Mac OS X-only command-line utilities, but UNIX itself will be fully certified.
To take advantage of that newly updated UNIX command line, Leopard's new Terminal 2 (for some reason I keep thinking of Arnold Schwartzenegger when I see that new name) offers an updated interface, with tabbed sessions and a completely overhauled inspector and settings pane. I have a deep attachment to the current incarnation of Terminal and I hope the new version will be as pleasant to use.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.
