Calling all bloggers!

Do you live, eat, and breathe games -- especially on the weekends? Would you like to get paid for writing about Nintendo? If these questions spark a ray of hope deep within your chest, we may have the offer you've been waiting for. DS Fanboy and Wii Fanboy are looking for a few good bloggers, and we're particularly interested in someone willing to do most of their writing on the weekend. Our new weekend blogger will not be in any way discouraged from writing during the week as well, but please understand that we are specifically looking for someone who can focus on the weekends.

If we happen to receive a particularly amazing application from someone who wants to write during the week, we may consider it as well, but a weekend writer is our first priority here. But please, go ahead and apply if you are truly interested and think you are the perfect Nintendo Fan-blogger!

In addition to a weekend writer, we're also on the lookout for columnists to join our team. We're particularly interested in someone who can provide a weekly, in-depth look at DS homebrew, but we will consider any and all column ideas. Do you think you can provide 800-1000 words on an interesting subject each week? If so, we'll happily listen to your pitch.

Want to learn how to apply? Head past the break.

Requirements:

  • A real enthusiasm for and knowledge of the Nintendo Wii and DS.

  • A reliable connection to the internet (obviously!)

  • Solid, speedy writing skills and the ability to self-edit.

  • A willingness to commit time and effort to DS and Wii Fanboy. It is quite possible to take this on in addition to a full-time job or schoolwork, but it is definitely a commitment of time and effort.

  • Basic photo-editing skills.

  • A willingness to follow instructions and an understanding of teamwork.

  • Lots of personality!

Great! Check to all those things! How do I apply?

  • Prepare three sample posts on either DS or Wii material in the style of our current posts. You must include the source for your news/rumors/material. If you wish to submit some form of original content, in the style of our recurring features, like WRUP, the DS Life, or a DS Daily/Wii Warm Up topic, please do this in addition to the three sample news posts.

  • Collect links to your other published works, whether or not they relate to gaming (if applicable).

  • Compose a short bio that will help convince us that you are 100% perfect for the position. Include any wacky skills you might have, for lulz (and hey, they might be useful).

  • Give us some idea of how many posts or how much time you anticipate that you might be able to contribute per week. Studying our current posts should help you determine this.

  • Put it all into the body of an e-mail (no attachments, please) and send to nintendobloggerjob [at] gmail [dot] com with the words NINTENDO FANBOY APPLICATION in the subject line.

Things you should probably not do:

  • Plagiarize.

  • Use profanity.

  • Ignore the instructions.

  • Skip proofreading and spell-checking.

But what if I have a column idea instead?

We want to hear all about it! You'll need to send the following to the same e-mail address as above, under the subject header COLUMN PITCH:

  • One full-length (800-1000 words) column written on your subject.

  • At least three ideas for subsequent weekly columns on the same theme.

  • A short bio that includes all the reasons why you are an "expert" on your chosen subject.

  • Links to all previously published online material (if applicable).

Wait! I have questions!

Luckily, we probably have answers. At least, for those frequently asked questions.

  • No, you need not be in the United States to apply, or in any specific area. These are modern times!

  • Minors are okay -- if you are legally able to work where you live.

  • There is no deadline as yet, but keep an eye on the site -- we will issue one at a later date. Applying sooner is better than applying later, however.

  • Your application for us is only for us -- not for Joystiq, or WoW Insider, or Xbox 360 Fanboy, or any of the other blogs in our network. If you want to write for them, go ask them!

Have a question not answered here? Please send it to the above e-mail address under the subject BLOGGER JOB QUESTIONS. We'll try to get to you as soon as we can. Please understand that we cannot possibly reply to every application we receive, and it will take us some time to process everyone.
