iTunes: Free Tuesday

Welcome to this week's edition of iTunes: Free Tuesday featuring a new collection of free singles from around the world. Each week we send out our dealgnomes to the furthest corners of the Earth to find and retrieve iTunes freebies from all the International stores. Here's what's new today:

Music

US: Rainin In Paradize by Manu Chao
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This bold, energetic track comes from Manu Chao's fifth solo album, La Radiolina. It charges ahead with a raging punk rock rhythm and is accented by some epic U2-like guitar figures. More directly, Chao peppers the song with urgent police sirens and descriptions of some less-than-perfect situations throughout the globe with the refrain, "It's raining in paradise." Astute global observations in under four minutes? How can you resist?

US: The Swarm by Noble Society
Our Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention. Noble Society is a Brooklyn crew dead set on merging the hip-hop and reggae worlds into one fully-functioning organism. "The Swarm" does the trick nicely, oozing thick, syrupy bass kicks while MC Jahdan represents the rasta spirit in its most defiant mode.

Australia: Asleep by Angie Hart
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Thanks to her work in the '90s with Frente! and other groups such as Splendid and Holidays on Ice, Angie Hart has one of Australia's most notable pop voices. "Asleep" is a breathy, atmospheric taste of her debut solo album, Grounded Bird, that builds layers of vocals on a solid, rumbling electronic backdrop.

New Zealand: Asleep by Angie Hart

Canada: Weighty Ghost (Radio Mix) by Wintersleep
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This week, we power up the spotlight and aim it dead center on Nova Scotia's Wintersleep, whose third full-length, Welcome to the Night Sky, is on our fall season wish list. "Weighty Ghost" is the first single from the album and it sounds like indie-rock gospel music to us - a paean to a ghost who is basically tethered to the ground, laid over double-tracked vocals, hand claps, and drum rolls. Good times.

France: Call me by Rock&Roll
« Call Me », notre Single de la semaine, capture l'oreille avec un refrain imparable. Face au nouvel EP du groupe parisien Rock&Roll dont il est extrait, les fans de la première heure et les nouveaux convertis se posent forcément la question cruciale : à quand l'album ? « Très bientôt » répondent les intéressés. Enfin une vraie bonne nouvelle.Si vous aimez ce morceau, obtenez l'EP ici.

UK: oh, metal! by To My Boy
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This Liverpool group has come to us directly from the future. Or more specifically, the future as it used to be in the good old days. With their robotic cadence, '80s video game bleeps, scratchy guitars, and lyrics like "Oh, metal! We admire your form," To My Boy breathe a bit of energy into the idea of retro-futurism.

US: The Big Bang Theory, Pilot
Meet two brainiacs with a lot to learn. Leonard and Sheldon can tell their quarks from their quantum physics, but have no clue how women add up. Leave it to their pretty new neighbor, just off a messy breakup, to teach them a thing or two in The Big Bang Theory.
