iTunes: Free Tuesday

Once again, TUAW is pleased to present you with a selection of free songs and videos from around the world. Many of these iTMS items won't be free for long, so grab your copies before the week is up. And don't forget: If you want to buy these on your iPhone or iPod touch, make sure to sign into your account in iTunes before you sync. UK Readers please note that there are still no free UK videos to date, despite the new TV Programme store. On the bright side, you may not have videos but you do have Same Difference and that strange Welsh Rhydian Roberts fellow. (Feel free to explain him to me in the comments.)

US Music

US: Cheri Dennis, Remind You
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. "Remind You" is a track from Cheri Dennis' upcoming full-length, In and Out In Love. Dennis had done a few guest spots on records by Diddy and Yung Joc, but she's perfectly suited to go it alone. The tune packs huge, chunky beats punctuated by horn stabs behind Dennis' pop-soul wail and comes out sounding like Beyoncé's tougher sister.

US: Bengala, Miente
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana. Bengala is a five piece from Mexico heavily inspired by the noisy, melodic side of guitar-led indie rock. The group has strong ties to bands like Molotov and Cafe Tacuba – members of which helped Bengala record their debut. "Miente" is a track from that record and it begins with a slightly melancholic swirl of notes (which doesn't actually abate) but moves on to the prized realm of catharsis.

US: Sterling Harrison, Don't You Mess With My Money
Our Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention. Sterling Harrison was a blatant slap in the face to anyone who has ever thought of modern soul music and said, "They just don't make 'em like they used to." For years, the Virginia-bred soul singer played in small clubs and bars in South Central Los Angeles, bringing a startlingly genuine spin on Southern soul music. His voice is all raw power, strutting and grunting over a tight blues and R&B combo. "Don't Mess With My Money" is from his posthumous 2007 release (Harrison died in 2005), South of the Snooty Fox.

International Music

Australia: PNAU, Shock to My System
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Dance music duo Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes touched down on the scene back in 2000 with their debut album, Sambanova, which went on to win an ARIA Award for that year's Best Dance Release. Their self-titled third album again puts them on the vanguard of Aussie dance. "Shock to My System" is a jittery pulse of electro-fuzz and strangulated vocals. They thicken up the mix with a sparse vocal chorus added to the refrain.

New Zealand: PNAU, Shock to My System

Canada: Neverending White Lights, Always
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This week, we're featuring a track from Neverending White Lights' second album, Act 2: The Blood and the Life Eternal. As with his first album, songwriter Daniel Victor asks different artists to provide the vocals for his epic, melancholy indie rock. However, the track we're featuring contains a rare dreamy vocal turn from Victor which proves that the man behind the music can handle a microphone just fine.

France: Brisa Roche, Heavy Dreaming

UK: SugaRush Beat Company, Oh Lord (Take Me Back)
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Sugarush Beat Company is what happens when you get pop producer/songwriter Jaz Rogers, Danish soul singer Ida Corr, and the United States' very own Rahsaan Patterson in a studio. "Oh Lord" is a thick slab of scratchy, dirty funk with Patterson nailing the grit of Sly Stone with plenty of his own inflections. A little bit of street corner jive with handclaps and a snaky groove that doesn't quit – we like whatever they're doing down there in the basement at the Sugarush Beat Company.
