Yesterday in Second Life, Friday 16 November, 2007
Yesterday in Second Life there was:
- 17,178 new signups bringing the total to 10,931,016 signups.
- One week median hourly signup rates have slipped slightly to about 950 signups/hour. That puts the 11 millionth signup somewhere early on Tuesday, 20 November. It wouldn't be unexpected to see a jump in signups over the weekend. Friday is usually the slowest day for signups overall, with signups peaking on Wednesdays.
- A peak concurrency of 52,276 at 2:40PM, and a minimum concurrency of 29,273 at 12:30AM. Median concurrency for the day was 40,889.
- The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.79 (lower is better).
- Some strange grid behaviour in the early hours. Almost certainly network-related.
- Just before Noon, Linden Lab announced that it was going to assign new IP addresses to a large number of servers. That work commenced around 1PM and is still ongoing in batches.
- Professor Edward Castronova needs a female fantasy dwarf avatar. Don't ask.
