New Second Life release candidate 1.18.6(RC1)

Linden Lab have just released a new release candidate view for Second Life, the second in the 1.18.6 series (release candidates start counting from zero, so this is RC1, rather than RC2).

This release fixes a nasty crash, and the inability to mute popups from llLoadURL, the readability of age-verification status, and issues with inventory that led to apparent (but not actual) loss of items.

1.18.6(RC1) is available right now for download (we use and recommend the use of a download manager) as the new official viewer. Windows users can expect about a 34MB download, Linux users around 50MB, and Mac users around 70MB (essentially double, because of the Universal Binary format).

Changes:

  • Change crash logger "Remember this choice" function to default to on

  • Connect button now has focus on login screen

  • Inventory folder loading state now more clearly indicated

Fixes:

  • VWR-3558: llLoadURL cannot be muted

  • VWR-3428: Checking a users profile while editing a linked set causes viewer crash

  • Viewer channel and version numbers reported incorrectly during login

  • Inventory cache version number incorrectly incremented, leading to perceved loss

  • Age verification status hard to read in the profile field

Release candidate viewers access your live account on the main Second Life grid (Agni). Potentially they may cause hair-loss in pets, and should be kept out of reach of children.
