Yesterday in Second Life, Wednesday 12 December, 2007
Yesterday in Second Life there was:
- 15,427 new signups bringing the total to 11,378,624 signups.
- A peak concurrency of 52,635 at 1:35PM, and a minimum concurrency of 29,614 at 1:15AM. Median concurrency for the day was 39,653.
- The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.84 (lower is better).
- A very short-notice and quite disruptive rolling restart swept across the grid in the afternoon to correct an inventory issue. The restart got going later than planned and ran well overtime, not finishing until just before 5PM SLT. There's no word on whether it actually fixed the problem once deployed – or quite what the problem is that it was supposed to fix.
- A new release candidate viewer was made available, 1.18.6(RC1).
- Business analysts are swinging back to the other end of the hype cycle again – in a few months they'll swing back the other way.
Below is the day's concurrency graphed for yesterday (left), and the corresponding day from the previous week (right)
