SOCOM Confrontation promises to be similar to Warhawk in many ways. The game will be made available via both the PSN Store and a boxed retail version (along with a Bluetooth headset). It will also be online-only and will support up to 32 players at a time. Full clan support, including uniform customisation, along with downloadable maps and expansions will make this a must-buy for any SOCOM fan.

Currently in arcades since November, the PS3 release of the next installment of Namco's Tekken series will see the light of day this year. With so many fans of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection we're sure a lot of you are waiting with baited breath for this game.

WipEout HD does exactly what it says on the tin. You've played this game before, but this time it'll be even prettier. The game itself is a mixture of tracks and vehicles from previous games in the WipEout franchise. It will be made available for download via the PSN Store. New features include vehicle painting, eight player online play and downloadable content. A full next-gen WipEout is also believed to be in production, though there's no telling whether we'll see it this year or not.

First shown off at E3 2007, Echochrome is an intriguing looking mind-bending puzzle game that will come packed in with a level editor. The game will be made available as a downloadable title for both the PS3 and PSP. While the minimalist graphic style may not seem the depth of gameplay and (we hope) user generated content should keep us going back for more.

What better way to end our look forward to the games of this year than with 2008's GOTY. Tim Shafer's next masterpiece is the first of its kind – a Heavy Metal Action Game. The main character, modelled after Tenacious D's Jack Black, is armed with a broadaxe, a guitar and the power of a Rock God. With these he is to rid the world of humanity's evil overlords back in the ancient age of Rock. Enough said, really.
