Yesterday in Second Life: Second Life Daily News

Yesterday in Second Life there was:

  • 19,001 new signups bringing the total to 12,246,064 signups.
  • A peak concurrency of 58,514 at 2:35PM, and a minimum concurrency of 28,635 at 12:10AM. Median concurrency for the day was 44,854.
  • The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.21 (lower is better).
  • The problem with the land database necessitated yet another rolling restart from 5PM to 10PM. While the restart is now complete, Linden Lab hasn't indicated whether or not it was successful in solving the problem, though we believe it has been.
  • Joppa Linden announced that there would be capacity upgrades to the asset cluster on Wednesday 6 February, but that there would be no disruption or downtime during or resulting from the work. The majority of responses to that were skeptical.
  • Linden Lab provided a helpful update on the changes to scripting that were made during one of the updates this week. A few scripters we know are having to redo some of their work, but the impact seems relatively minor.

Below is the day's concurrency graphed for yesterday (left), and the corresponding day from the previous week (right)

Active users reported by Linden Lab (that is, users who have logged in for more than 60 minutes in the last 60 days) is 1,361,910. Linden Lab last updated this figure on 1 Feb 2008 at 23:59.
