MMOG Podcast Roundup: Feb. 1st - Feb. 15th

Every week, hardworking Massive gaming fans put their voices on the line to bring us news, opinions, and 'critiques' of their favorite games. Podcasts are a staple of many hobbies nowadays, and fans of online worlds are especially fortunate in this regard ... there are a ton out there.

As such, every so often we'll try to update you on the podcasting world. Keep your eyes on this space for links to your favorite MMO-commentary celebs. Good and bad, straight-man or blue-mouthed, they all have something to offer about this amazing style of gameplay.

Our highlight this week? Massively (sorta) has its own podcast-ish-thing. It's called Turpster Vision, and it's the work of the man, the myth, the legend from the WoW Insider Show and WoW Radio. His first episode ("Dancing in the Endless Forest") went up on the site just this week. And trust me, as someone who has walked in that forest and still doesn't understand what the heck is going on there, it's well worth watching. And did I mention it's funny?

  • Wow Insider Show: Episode 23. The brief life of Mojo the frog, and the hosts' favorite five-man. Episode 24. Predictions for patch 2.4 flesh out this mighty episode.

  • Virgin Worlds: Episode 101. The curious legal proceedings surrounding the Blizzard injunction, along with the announcement of Earthrise. Episode 102. The death of Ryzom makes for a somber moment, along with some discussion of modern RMT (that prostitution thing again), and BioWare's MMO. Episode 103. A special one-on-one episode with Brent and Charles Manning from the company PlayXpert.

  • Warhamma the Podcast: Episode 11. The Beta invites hitch, and the happy outlook for High Elves.

  • Games for Windows: 02/06/2008. The discussion of RMT as prostitution involves some titilating jokes.

  • Game/On: Nudity in Age of Conan. Boobs (or the lack thereof) are popular both on this podcast and a number of others.

  • Legendary Thread: 02/08/2008. Raid drama cannot compete with the purity of 2.4 patch talk. Plus Pirates of the Burning Sea, discussed.

  • Voyages of Vanguard: Episode 31. Troy and Beau Turkey talk Vanguard hot fixes and Game Update 4.

  • Official SOE Podcast: Episode 29. Folks from the QA depratment, along with Julie Burness, stop in to talk about their games of choice.

  • Ring Cast: Episode 16. Lady Sinaea and Book 12. What's not to like?

  • The Addicted Gamer: A brand new cast in the VirginWorlds collective. Episode 1. The answer to the question, "What game has you addicted?" Episode 2. Why do MMOs have such a bad reputation. Episode 3. A funny thing happened to me on the way to the quest giver ...

  • PC Gamer: Episode 199. Truly a deep question: "What is Conan with the nipples?" Episode 120. The Hello Kitty MMOG is a sign of the apocalypse. Revel in the end times.

  • Warp Drive Active: Episode 27. BoB gets the boot, and the announcement of EVE's move to Steam. Don't forget to do your homework!

  • The Instance: Episode 95. The Blizzard settlement with Peons4Hire leads off the 'cast, as well as some more aesthetic details. Episode 96. Patch notes to 2.4 dissected, examined, and analyzed.

  • Witty Ranter: Episode 2. The permenance of RMT in MMO culture, and hatred for hatred on the old school round out this angry, angry show.

  • Channel Massive: Episode 27. WAR PvP, Second Life boobs, and an 'Armory' for City of Heroes. Episode 28. Much talk of coming games ... and games that may not even exist?

  • CoMutiny: Episode 42. Nintendo's not doing a MMOG? Ever? What about the pokemans! I'd like to show them to you!

  • Pet Food Alpha: Episode 86. There's a pimp hat in FFXI? Plus bagging on the White Mage (which seems like a bad plan, long term). Episode 87. Campaign battles are the main thrust of the episode. Lots of juicy details for the uninitiated.

  • Shut Up! We're Talking: Episode 19. The problem with Hype, and the war on WAR.

  • The Jester's Court: Episode 91. A recent documentar on socialization in online games tips the 'cast off, and ends with a discussion of future titles.

  • EQual Perspectives: Episode 9. Email discussed, and then monsters of Massive design discussed. Content and the new Epics are the other big topics of the day. Episode 10. The 'cast hits its first milestone, and talks about the Fan Faire and Kylong gear.
