Yesterday in Second Life: Second Life Daily News
Yesterday in Second Life there was:
- 15,330 new signups bringing the total to 12,530,392 signups.
- A peak concurrency of 58,779 at 2:10PM, and a minimum concurrency of 33,169 at 1:05AM. Median concurrency for the day was 45,015.
- The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.21 (lower is better).
- Linden Lab had something of an emergency with 521 simulators that had been updated to a new software version. It appeared that 20 hours of updates and transactions to those simulators was to be lost, but at the last minute, the Linden Lab devs managed to find a way to avoid the widespread loss.
- Network problems fouled a further (approximately) 450 simulators – we're not sure of that was an overlapping set. Users with login problems were urged to use a preferences option to connect to a different simulator – though notably the ability to change preferences before logging in has been removed from newer release candidates.
- The Support Portal, display of classifieds and the land store all spend much of the evening bollixed up.
Below is the day's concurrency graphed for yesterday (left), and the corresponding day from the previous week (right)
