Rolling update to version SLS1.22.2

The deployment of SLS version 1.22.2 (formerly and somewhat inexplicably known as 1.22.3) was apparently completed on Tuesday evening, and while the location wasn't specified, it now appears to have been loaded onto the preview grid.

Apparently the announced QA passes on the preview grid were complete before the announcement was made that they would be taking place. Maybe timezone problems — we're not quite sure about that. Nevertheless, this version is rolling out onto the main grid now, and almost all the changes are physics-related this time, with fixes to stair-climbing and hovering, simulator crash fixes and a simulator memory leak plugged.

Changes for this release include:

  • SVC-1937: Avatar no longer gets stuck in hover when walking up stairs or impacting prims at certain angles
  • SVC-2014: Avatars flying within the bounding box of a physical object no longer slows the physical object
  • SVC-2443: Flying from hover is no longer "sticky".
  • DEV-14174: Avatar no longer sinks slowly while hovering (and 'hopefully' no longer displays other slow rise/fall symptoms in hover modes)
  • DEV-15875: Avatar now collides with tall prims, rather than walking up walls
  • Internal: Resolved several crash modes
  • Internal: Resolved server memory leak

Phase one of the rollout is already complete with the pilot group of main grid simulators updated early this-evening. The second phase (half the grid) is going ahead at 5AM-9AM (US Pacific time) Thursday (tomorrow), and the remainder of the grid being restarted at the same time Friday, unless things go poorly.

Recently, things have gone poorly, so we'll wait and see.
