Second Life daily news
Aloha!
- Bringing the milk in — Amul to build digital dairy factory.
- Avatar puppeteering code in the wild — We're not sure how much use that it is actually going to be without additional server-support.
- 1.20RC9 — No go on Mac PPC, not good for snapshots either.
- Dusan Writer's challenge — Design a newbie-friendly UI for L$.
- Newbie avatar candidates — Tell Torley what you think of them.
- (update) 'Suspended' may be too soft a term, Ziggy Moonflower reports that the German teen accounts were indeed terminated, and not just suspended, due to some unspecified 'security issue' with all of those accounts.
- 12,150 new signups bringing the total to 13,901,565 signups.
- A peak concurrency of 59,775 at 2:00PM, and a minimum concurrency of 35,960 at 2:10AM. Median concurrency for the day was 45,993.
- The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.38 (lower is better). The rolling restart to 1.22.2 seems to have taken a toll on users in the morning hours, followed by major disruptions which never quite entirely stopped through the rest of the day. Additionally both the Support Portal and teleports were problematic due to what appeared to be a West coast router failure.
Below is the day's concurrency graphed for yesterday (left), and the corresponding day from the previous week (right)
Recent users reported by Linden Lab (that is, users who have logged in at least once within the last 60 days) is 1,023,779. Linden Lab last updated this figure on 4 June 2008 at 23:59.
