Linden Lab restricted logins to premium accounts

Linden Lab has finally issued a belated response to our queries about the until-now unconfirmed Second Life login restrictions on June 12 that limited logins to premium account holders only. According to Linden Lab the restriction was in place for seven minutes, during a spate of grid problems, and while Linden Lab had promised (during the initial announcement of the measure back in February 2007) that there would be assorted bulletins if such a move was used, for whatever reason, those notifications did not go ahead.

This marks the first time that Linden Lab has ever used the scheme to restrict logins to premium accounts only, and, according to Linden Lab it is also likely to be the last, as 'it no longer serves the purpose for which it was designed.'
