Second Life daily news
- Google's Lively touted as the SL killer — We're not so sure, but the uninformed media seems to be.
- Linden Lab not afraid of Lively — So confident they needed to make special mention of it. Right. Gwyn wonders if Google just killed the whole metaverse idea.
- Update delays — Three-day update delayed a day. Then delayed another.
- 15,340 new signups bringing the total to 14,285,811 signups.
- A peak concurrency of 61,810 at 2:10PM, and a minimum concurrency of 35,846 at 3:10AM. Median concurrency for the day was 49,760.
The Grid Stability Index for the day was 1.33 (lower is better). Website and signup failures were followed by login and grid subsystem failures just around peak time. The later afternoon and evening where characterized by erratic grid performance. There's no sign that the grid can manage 70K concurrency just yet.
Below is the day's concurrency graphed for yesterday (left), and the corresponding day from the previous week (right)
Recent users reported by Linden Lab (that is, users who have logged in at least once within the last 60 days) is 1,168,422. Linden Lab last updated this figure on 9 Jul 2008 at 23:59.
