Massively's guide to the LotRO vanity pets: Rare drops

After completing the Friend of the Wild questline, you will have the pet Hare at your disposal. Using the Tome of the Hare will bring it out, but be aware that you can only have one pet out at a time. This includes combatant pets, too. The pet Turtle can be obtained through the Mathom Society in Michel Delving once you've reached Ally rank reputation with them. The Sparrow is gained through the Elves of Rivendell, once you've reached Kindred standing with them. All three of these pets are Bind on Acquire.

However, the remaining six vanity pets can only be gained through random loot drops after you're level 45, and they're Bind on Equip. There's the Dog, Cat, Fox, Snake, Frog and Squirrel still left to find, and they're not easy. You can find these rare vanity pet drops in any high-level area, but one of the most popular areas for farming these is Goblin Town.
