WAR crafting guide: Other gathering skills

The remaining three gathering skills are very simple. Each of them (with the exception of Magical Salvaging) only require the skill to be trained, but not equipped, as with the others we've mentioned already.

Magical Salvaging
This basically lets you take the magical essence from certain salvageable equipment. The essence, in turn, is used for Talisman Making. This makes it a very logical choice to pair up with Talisman Making. Simply left-click on the Magical Salvaging icon which will ten turn your cursor into a small hammer. When you use that little hammer on an item in your backpack that says "Requires Salvaging", it will then salvage the magic from that item. Some examples of salvageable items include Ruined Equipment, Shattered Equipment and Sundered Equipment.

Butchering
This skill works on beasts and animals to extract useful parts of their dead bodies for the production crafting skills. To use it, simply kill a beastie, loot it then watch as your icon becomes a butcher's axe. You'll also know when something can be butchered if it has flies around it. This only happens for players with the butcher skill. Most of what you'll gather from butchered animals will be used with the Apothecary, especially at lower levels.

Scavenging
This skill is basically butchering for humanoids. It works in the exact same way, except your cursor will turn into a small set of pliers, which when applied to a dead humanoid will extract a number of useful items from their bodies. This one is useful for Talisman Makers and Apothecaries alike.
