Meet the Team: William Dobson

Starting this week, once a week, our writers will tell you more about themselves, and let you get to know them and the characters they play a little better. Click here to read more Meet the Team.

What do you do for Massively.com?

Currently I contribute features and guides, and have just switched my main focus to Warhammer Online.

What's your favorite MMO?
I'll give two answers here. I think it's always hard to beat someone's first experience in an MMO world, which is why EverQuest has to be right up there with my all-time favorites. Looking at more recent times though (in the last few years), although it's early days I think that WAR has a lot going for it and will remain my current favorite for some time to come.%Gallery-33889%

What games are you playing now, and what are your characters?

If you didn't already guess from the above, almost all of my MMO time is being spent on Warhammer Online at the moment. My main character is a Rune Priest, but I've had a lot of fun melting faces on a Bright Wizard alt. It's nice to actually do some damage after healbotting on my main!

Why do you like MMOs so much?
Many reasons. I like that many MMOs offer a variety of gameplay types, like PvE, PvP, and crafting, and the fact that the classes usually have differing mechanics, so that if you do choose to spend most of your gaming time on one particular title, you won't get bored for quite a while. There's also the social aspect, and getting to constantly improve your character every time you log on (I have always been an RPG fan, long before I played my first MMO).

What accomplishment in-game are you most proud of?
I find it harder to single out an accomplishment from recent years, because with larger communities it's less likely that your achievement is unique or overly brag-worthy! One accomplishment I was quite proud of was being the second Necromancer on my EverQuest server to get their epic weapon, and achieving this without a large guild.

What's the most terrible, drama-filled, awful thing to happen to you in an MMO?
This would probably be some in-fighting and back-stabbing in a past guild, but which MMO fan hasn't had their fair share of that?

If you had 10 more hours to play every week, what would you spend them doing?
Pay more attention to my alts.

When you're not playing MMOs, what do you do?
When I'm not working or studying, I like to play most other types of games too. I also play the piano and the electric guitar, and am pretty "into" music in general.
