Know Your LotRO Lore: Rings in the game

In Lord of the Rings Online, you are essentially following behind the Fellowship as they make their way to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring. For this reason, the only rings you see are crafted by the Jeweller profession and demanded by the likes of Verity Tyne.

However, in Book 14, we get a pretty healthy dose of lore concerning the rings and their origins. If you're worried about spoilers, you might want to skip this paragraph and pick up on the next paragraph. In Volume I, Book 14, Chapter 11, we learn that the forces of Angmar, led by the Witch-king, are planning to return to Mirobel in Eregion to rekindle the old forges and either create a new ring or repair an old one. After a few failed attempts, you are finally victorious, halting Angmar's presence in Mirobel's ring-forges... for now.

At the current state of the game, there are sixteen rings known to still exist. The nine worn by the Nazgul, the three in Sauron's possession, the three possessed by Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf (although his possession is not widely known yet), and of course, the one held by Frodo. As the storyline continues to unfold, and we encroach further upon Mordor, we're sure to see more of these rings in the game.

To commemorate the stories, we are offered several statues for our in-game houses and yards which depict key players in the history of the Rings. There's one of Celebrimbor, the original lord of the Eregion smiths. There's one of Gil-galad, who was awarded two of the Elven rings from Celebrimbor. There is even a statue of Luthien, Elrond's great-grandmother and the originator of his "Half-Elven" blood lines. All of these statues can be gained through the Reputation Vendors in Rivendell.
