FanPoll'08: XBLA Game of the Year

Ah, Braid. The charming puzzle game from developer Jonathan Blow grabbed top honors according to our readers making it the Reader's Choice XBLA Game of the Year. Netting 40% of the vote, Braid proves a game can live on in our minds even if the experience is a short one.

Rounding out the list was the addictive dual-analog stick shooter Geometry Wars 2, sequel to the game that started our love affair with the XBLA service at 22%. Capcom's HD reboot experiment took the next two spots with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix at third place with 21% and Bionic Commando Rearmed in fourth with 8%. Controversial pick A Kingdom for Keflings rounded out the list at 7%.

While it was not included due to its ongoing online problems, even post-title update four-months after the game released, Castle Crashers received a number of write-in votes and remains highly-recommended within the community.

From the comments:
"Even putting the nostalgia and brilliant art and music aside, the gameplay alone [in Braid] makes it a worthy pick for XBLA game of the year. But the fantastic presentation is what made it an all-timer in my mind." — pixelate
