One Boss Leaves: Prince Taldaram embraces victory

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW Insider's series of fantasy death matches. This season's bosses come from the five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King.

Prince Taldaram of Ahn'Kahet: The Old Kingdom managed to Embrace (of the Vampyr) victory in this week's matchup against the Maiden of Grief from Halls of Stone. Despite the Maiden's relentless shadow damage, Prince Taldaram's Bloodthirst, Flame Spheres, Vanish and Embrace of the Vampyr reduced the Titanic Maiden to rubble.

"Close fight that goes to Taldaram," called Jawajoey. "Shock of (Sorrow) won't help her much in a one-on-one, especially with an intelligent, mobile enemy and all the storms and pillars she'll throw around. Embrace of the Vampyr will be a nice tool -- though assuming the Maiden is smart enough to keep Pillar of Woe on him and keep him moving with Storms, it won't dominate her. "

"So far, Taldaram has a slight advantage, and the rest of their abilities spell out the rest," he continued. "Parting Sorrow is nothing special. But Taldaram has healing to keep him up, Vanish to give him mobility and flexibility. The DOTs and ground targeted AOEs will keep Maiden competitive when she's dodging the Flame Sphere, but it's still going to cost her. Simply put, the Maiden doesn't have anything to give her an edge over Taldaram. It's a close fight, but all the tricks are up Taldaram's sleeves."

Squig masta provided the dissenting opinion: "Gotta give this to the Maiden. Since I'm pretty sure she doesn't have blood to drain, the only tricks he has at his disposal are Flame Spheres and a disappearing act (easily counterable by Shock). That, plus the mana drain from Parting Sorrow and the nasty DoT from Pillar of Woe (plus I doubt his melee attacks would do all that much to a living statue), (and) it's a pretty one-sided fight.

"I'm not saying the Maiden would be indestructible; she just needs to be taken on with someone with a lot of brute force to smash through her -- WTB General Bjarngrim or King Dred, not an Undead Elf who specializes in running away, then biting your neck when your back is turned. The poor prince would chip his fangs."

Vote in the next deathmatch (with more bosses from the five-man Wrath of the Lich King instances) when Two Bosses Enter returns later today.
