NintendoWare Weekly: Monkeys, Musketeers and more Sudoku

Just as expected, today marks the release of the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island on WiiWare. If comical puzzles aren't your thing, there're also puzzles of the humorless variety in a bit of Sudoku for the DSi. Or, if you're looking for some swordplay -- without the insults -- there's a new WiiWare game featuring The Three Musketeers.

Oh, and it would appear Nintendo has run out of steam on the Virtual Console, as this week marks the second in a row where there has been no new Virtual Console game. Hey, Nintendo, looking for an idea of what to release next? How about that game starring the boy from Onett?

DSiWare

  • Sudoku Student (Hudson, 1 player, 200 DSi Poiints): Aimed at getting beginners into the numbered grids game, Sudoku Student promises "entry- to beginner-level players" will "find just the right amount of challenge to keep you hooked."

WiiWare

  • Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Guybrush hits the high seas for hilarity once again in this first installment in a five-part series. We reviewed it already, so give this a read in case you run into your own deadly pirate LeChuck. Being prepared is paramount!

  • The Three Musketeers: One for All! (Legendo Entertainment, 1 player, 900 Wii Points): Players take up the role of Porthos, famed musketeer, as he attempts to save his imprisoned comrades from a pair of sinister counts. Sadly, this game doesn't feature the fluffy nougat of its edible cousin.

  • HB Arcade Cards (HB Studios Multimedia, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): This is basically a collection of classic card games. There's Rummy, Hearts, Euchre, Canasta, Cribbage and Solitaire. Oddly, though, it doesn't feature multiplayer of any kind.
